README.md not shipped in dist tarball

Version: 2.6.0

After the README has been renamed to README.md, it is no longer automatically added to the dist tarball [1].

I'm not sure if this omission is deliberate or not. If not, README.md to should probably be added to EXTRA_DIST in Makefile.am
