Parental controls app: show the launcher, or merge into Settings?
I've previously asked this question elsewhere, but it's probably worth tracking it with an issue.
Originally, the idea behind having a standalone parental controls app was to provide quick access to the settings, potentially to grant transient access to something. For example, a child might be using the computer, and might ask a parent to temporarily let them play a game or browse a certain website. In this case the app would be close to hand and relatively easy to discover, compared with having to dig into the settings.
Now that the parental controls app launcher has been hidden under GNOME, it can no longer serve this purpose - you always have to go to the Settings to open it. I can only think of disadvantages of this approach of having a hidden app, compared with integrating the parental controls settings into gnome-control-center.
Logically, I think we should therefore either:
- Show the app launcher again, potentially only when parental controls are being used (#24 (closed))
- Merge the parental controls app into gnome-control-center
