xdg-open opens mistyped files as URLs
It seems this is feature but in my opinion should not be: When I call
xdg-open some-mistyped-filename
it attempts to open this as an URL http://some-mistyped-filename
in my default web browser, which is a nuisance since usually the name of the file is simply incomplete (comes from auto-completion where there are multiple files with the same base name but different extensions).
I'd rather xdg-open
write an error and stay in terminal so I can seamlessly complete the filename.
Are there settings preventing xdg-open to open unknown arguments as URLs, if they don't contain "http://" or "https://"?
I also asked this question on StackExchange / Ask Ubuntu, where it was suggested this might be a bug.
Thanks!
