Compose sequences for currency signs
There are currently no compose sequences for peso, shekel¹, tenge, som, manat, lari, dram. Some of them (tenge and som, at least) are completely absent from keyboard layouts as well, so there's no way to type them at all! Here are some proposals. Searching across the nls
directory didn't show any conflicts. Feedback is greatly appreciated.
Tenge - ₸, an overlined T:
<Multi_key> <T> <underscore> : "₸" U20B8 # TENGE SIGN
<Multi_key> <underscore> <T> : "₸" U20B8 # TENGE SIGN
Som - ⃀, an underlined C, in Unicode since 2021, font support still rudimentary:
<Multi_key> <C> <underscore> : "⃀" U20C0 # SOM SIGN
<Multi_key> <underscore> <C> : "⃀" U20C0 # SOM SIGN
<Multi_key> <c> <underscore> : "⃀" U20C0 # SOM SIGN
<Multi_key> <underscore> <c> : "⃀" U20C0 # SOM SIGN
Azerbaijani manat - ₼, based on letter m with a vertical bar:
<Multi_key> <m> <bar> : "₼" U20BC # MANAT SIGN
<Multi_key> <bar> <m> : "₼" U20BC # MANAT SIGN
Shekel - ₪, constructed by combining Hebrew letters, shin and heth:
<Multi_key> <hebrew_shin> <hebrew_chet> : "₪" U20aa # NEW SHEQEL SIGN
<Multi_key> <hebrew_chet> <hebrew_shin> : "₪" U20aa # NEW SHEQEL SIGN
<Multi_key> <N> <U> : "₪" U20aa # NEW SHEQEL SIGN
<Multi_key> <n> <u> : "₪" U20aa # NEW SHEQEL SIGN
Peso - ₱:
<Multi_key> <P> <equal> : "₱" U20b1 # PESO SIGN
<Multi_key> <equal> <P> : "₱" U20b1 # PESO SIGN
<Multi_key> <p> <equal> : "₱" U20b1 # PESO SIGN
<Multi_key> <equal> <p> : "₱" U20b1 # PESO SIGN
These sequences would conflict with those for ruble sign, so here are alternative ruble sequences:
<Multi_key> <P> <minus> : "₽" U20bd # ROUBLE SIGN
<Multi_key> <minus> <P> : "₽" U20bd # ROUBLE SIGN
<Multi_key> <p> <minus> : "₽" U20bd # ROUBLE SIGN
<Multi_key> <minus> <p> : "₽" U20bd # ROUBLE SIGN
Lari - ₾, based on Georgian letter ლ (L, lasi) with two vertical strokes:
<Multi_key> <Georgian_las> <equal> : "₾" U20BE # LARI SIGN
<Multi_key> <equal> <Georgian_las> : "₾" U20BE # LARI SIGN
<Multi_key> <Georgian_las> <quotedbl> : "₾" U20BE # LARI SIGN
<Multi_key> <quotedbl> <Georgian_las> : "₾" U20BE # LARI SIGN
<Multi_key> <L> <quotedbl> : "₾" U20BE # LARI SIGN
<Multi_key> <quotedbl> <L> : "₾" U20BE # LARI SIGN
Dram - ֏, based on Armenian capital letter Դ (D, da) with two horizontal strokes:
<Multi_key> <Armenian_DA> <equal> : "֏" U058F # ARMENIAN DRAM SIGN
<Multi_key> <equal> <Armenian_DA> : "֏" U058F # ARMENIAN DRAM SIGN
<Multi_key> <Armenian_da> <equal> : "֏" U058F # ARMENIAN DRAM SIGN
<Multi_key> <equal> <Armenian_da> : "֏" U058F # ARMENIAN DRAM SIGN
<Multi_key> <D> <equal> : "֏" U058F # ARMENIAN DRAM SIGN
<Multi_key> <equal> <D> : "֏" U058F # ARMENIAN DRAM SIGN
Additionally, Cyrillic-based sequences for tenge, som and ruble can also be added (based on Cyrillic letters Т, С, Р), as Kazakh, Kyrgyz and Russian languages all have Cyrillic-based alphabets.
UPD: added proposals for Latin letter based sequences for lari and dram signs.
¹: a dead_currency
-based sequence for shekel does exist, but dead_currency
itself is only present in fr
and fi
keyboard layouts.
